thx for quick answer. Now I am decided for ADAPTEC 3805. Price is acceptable (almost the same as Areca ARC-1220) and it seems to match my needs (mostly compatibility issues…for system drive I think I’m gonna use Intel G2 SSD or maybe OCZ Vertex).

Interesting. I haven’t used any SSD’s yet. Mostly I usually install the OS on a RAID5 volume so that I can always boot into it when a drive fails. This is even more important when using Vista/W7/2008 with volumes larger than 2TB. That becomes a GPT disk to the OS and XP doesn’t see those (so most PE-CD/USB stuff to get onto the system won’t work for emergencies).

I’ll let you know how the 3805 works out. I’m sure it’ll solve the onboard ICHR problem in the new system. It’d better! grin

Well…SSD disks don’t have mechanical parts and therefor are more “safe”...but as always…I will be doing some backups every weekend to avoid total loss of system. And one SSD is quieter then normal hdd (obvious thing) and definitely faster (i.e number of IOPS compared to normal HDD, random writes/reads and access time). It seems to be ideal for system drive.only price is not so “ideal”. For data storage - normal hdd’s are better.
