Just wondering if other users have had a crack at any real time or virtual reality models?  I know PB have one that’s proving popular around here at the moment.

Would like to hear how well it went, whether Dynamite was used and how it handled it’s objects and how was the model received by the client?

I guess you are referring to Urban Circus? I’ve heard good things about their recent presentation at the Australian MX Conference. Good to hear that Dynamite VSP is an integral part of their workflow, I’m always happy to see the core technology being of benefit in other areas, such as export to real time rendering engines.

As well as Urban Circus, there are plenty of other solutions around - VR4MAX, RTRE, Quest3D. I’ve heard particularly good things about Quest3D, but don’t have direct experience.

What’s your view of PB Brisbane’s recent experience of UC?  Is realtime output proving to be a requirement for your clients?

Yup, they’ve been floating around for a while and have had some profile projects in the public domain over the last few years so getting some good exposure.

Yeah, I have had a few people asking me why we don’t do that sort of stuff.  I keep getting told I have to catch up.  It started with the Hale Street Link project and then the Houghton Highway Bridge and now APL.  Seems the Gold Coast Light Rail stuff slipped under the radar.

I didn’t realise that they were using it, cool.

I thought that UC were using Quest3D?  Do you know what they are using?

I haven’t had any direct contact with the PB crew since the North South Bypass Tunnel (called CLEM7 now) tender we did together but from what I’ve heard indirectly, it went well and it certainly pops up from time to time.

Nope.  No client as such has mentioned it.  I’m actually not a fan of it but it seems to be the trend at the moment so I need to look into it.  All I seem to get is hasseled by my work colleages about how all these others are doing this good looking stuff and why aren’t we?  :(
