Hi David,

You mean the low-poly trucks that shipped with DVSP 4.x?  Are you using these with the Autodesk Civil Visualisation Extension?

Hi Bruce,
Yeah your right i didnt realise we had copied them in and they werent supposed to be with the Autodesk Civil Vis Extension.  I’m still not sure what’s going on with the materials, have had a bit of a play with them.  Is there any steps that i should check with them?

Regards

David

I have finally got to a point where I quickly dragged over the old vehicles.  If you bring across the old meterial then it should work a treat.

The only thing that I have noticed is that AVCE doesn’t have the fake shadow option.  Bruce, is this something that might return?

I did end up getting it sorted with the materials.  Yeah i just seleted the faces for the face shadow as it didnt work out properly.

Anyone noticed that in ACVE they have kinda stuffed up the linemarking editor?  Width is now mark length etc smile Not a big problem just strange.

Good stuff.  I’ll get to it at some point too.  Had fun with memory issues last night and I’m sure they could have been solved with using the old vehicles.

Really?  I’ve been working on two jobs and not noticed this.  Mind you, I have only been applying a predetermined style from file and not used the editor.

No, it won’t return.  It’s not seen as necessary these days with renderers like mental ray which can produce shadows much more efficiently than the old scanline renderer.

This was actually an attempt at making things more consistent between the Road Marking Parameters rollout and the Road Markings Style Editor.  Previously, the parameters were in a different order in these two panels.

When AVCE was first released, there was a bug in this panel which was corrected literally a day later.  Therefore, if you are seeing the wrong values change when you adjust the spinner controls in this panel, you might want to download and install the product again.  Alternatively, you could just wait until the next release…

Fair enough.  Mind you, some of us still use the old scanline renderer wink

How close is that?  Any heads up on new features?  Or is it bug fixes and slight enhancments?

Unfortunately, I can’t say as much as I used to be able to.  My hands are tied by Autodesk’s rules about making (or rather not making) forward looking statements.  This essentially boils down to them being a publicly listed company, which brings a whole list of do’s and don’ts to the table.
